Ethos™: The "Majesty
Factor"
- 100° & 110° Apparent Field Eyepieces
TeleVue continues to expand its Ethos eyepiece line with introduction of the 10mm and 21mm oculars. Debuting in Spring 2009, the 10mm Ethos eyepiece bridges the gap between the previously released 8mm and 13mm eyepieces. At the other end of the size range, the 21mm Ethos has been planned for delivery starting in mid-December. The Ethos ocular series has met with rave reviews since the release of the 13mm eyepiece at NEAF 2007. With its full 100 degree field of view, high contrast and full-field sharpness, this ocular essentially operates as multiple eyepieces in one. It provides the true field size of an eyepiece with longer focal length and narrower apparent field with the benefits of higher magnifications and darker sky background. As well as matching all the key performance criteria of the 13mm sibling,
the new 8mm version is also parfocal in 1¼" focusers with
Radians, Plössls, Type 6 Naglers and 1¼" Panoptics. Further,
its lighter weight and smaller diameter than the 13mm Ethos makes the
8mm suitable for anyone using a binocular viewer. In comparing it to the
8-24mm Zoom eyepiece, the 8mm Ethos has the power of the 8mm Zoom
and 83% of the field of the 24mm setting! |

Read what the folks at
Tele Vue had to say about this ocular series: Following Tele Vue’s philosophy of pushing the state of the art, long-time Tele Vue employee and optical design protégé Paul Dellechiaie took up the challenge and designed the basic eyepiece form. Under Al’s guidance, Paul tweaked his design to fulfill the original goals. While sharpness is inherent to the optical design, contrast is maximized through the intelligent use of flat finished baffles and ultra low reflectance, high efficiency coatings tuned to the composition of each element." We think you'll like what you see. |

Delos™: 20 mm of Eye Relief - 72° Apparent Field Eyepieces
Tele Vue is pleased to introduce the Delos, mid-to-short focal length line of 20mm eye-relief, 72° apparent field of view eyepieces. Every optical, mechanical, and ergonomic aspect was rethought to achieve reference-standard performance for any visual application. |
|
Contrast is further enhanced with a new, continuously adjustable height eyeguard system that can be locked in any position. Since the Delos eye-lens measures a quite large 35mm in diameter, preventing stray light from reflecting off the first surface and extraneous light from entering your eye pays off in a nice increase in perceived contrast. The eyeguard's sliding action allows for positioning the soft rubber eyeguard at the ideal height to suit the observer's preference. Indicator marks on the eyepiece body are handy reference guides for setting your perfect position. |

Nagler™ - 82° Apparent Field Eyepieces
Type 4 With the goal of achieving a wide angle perspective similar to that of the naked eye while not compromising the high degree of contrast and sharpness, Al Nagler set about designing the eyepieces that would bear his name. Type 4 Naglers achieved these objectives, as well as incorporating longer eye-relief. This group of eyepieces also makes use of the "Instajust" eyeguard seen on the Radians. Available in focal lengths of 22mm, 17mm, and 12mm. |
|
Type 5 The Type 5 Nagler eyepieces have a unique, 6-element design that maintains the contrast advancements of the Type 4 while also providing a very wide field of view. Several different extra-low dispersion glasses and specialized coatings are used for the remarkable contrast and longer eye relief than earlier Nagler designs. The new material allows these oculars to be much lighter than their predecessors, the Nagler Type 2s. The 31mm, 26mm, and 20mm eyepieces have a 2-inch barrel size, while the 16mm is a handy 1.25 inches.
|
|
Type 6 Increased eye relief, contrast, and true field-of-view were worked into these shorter focal length eyepieces. This version utilizes a new, 7-element design of different exotic material and coating processes and still achieves the same sharpness as the originals. All the eyepieces in this collection offer 12mm of eye relief. Available in focal lengths of 13mm, 11mm, 9mm, 7mm, 5mm, 3.5mm and 2.5mm. |

Panoptic - 68° Apparent Field Eyepieces
As the Radian design started with wide-field design concepts, the Panoptic eyepiece group also used those principles as a base but sought to bring the famous Nagler-like, high-contrast performance to an ocular with a larger field-of-view. Each Panoptic boast 68 degrees apparent field-of-view with tack-sharp images. Comfortable eye relief reaches approximately 70% of focal length. Additional features include an undercut in the barrel for extra locking security and a cover for the eyeguard. Available in 41mm, 35mm, 27mm, 24mm and 19mm.

Plössl - 50° Apparent Field Eyepieces
Introduced in 1980, the Plössl series of eyepieces have long been considered the benchmark of performance and value for oculars in the 50 degree field-of-view range. Although they are at the lower end of the price spectrum, they receive the same care and attention as the more expensive Tele Vue oculars. By utilizing high-index glasses to reduce astigmatism and lateral color at the field's edge, these eyepieces deliver sharp image and great contrast. Available in 55mm, 40mm, 32mm, 25mm, 15mm, 11mm, and 8mm. |
